Meet Our Personal Trainers

All personal trainers at the Student Wellness Centre hold top nationally accredited Personal Training certifications. All of our trainers are also certified in First Aid/CPR/AED. Ashlee Wilhelm – BSc – HK, CSEP CEP

Ashlee graduated from the University of Guelph in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science, Honours in Human Kinetics. She then went on to further her education at Niagara College by enrolling in a graduate certificate program in Exercise Science for Health and Performance. Upon completion of this program Ashlee challenged CSEP’s Certified Exercise Physiologist examination and became certified. Growing up she was a competitive swimmer and also participated in intermural sports including volleyball, basketball and dodgeball. Ashlee enjoys working with clients from all walks of life and specializes in strength and interval training, as well as circuit training. Ashlee believes in the necessity for living a healthy active lifestyle and is excited to share this knowledge with future clients in order to help them achieve their goals. Outside of the gym she enjoys spending time with family and friends and being outdoors.

Avi Verma, CSEP-CPT

Avi graduated from the Fitness and Health Promotion program at Fanshawe College in 2017. He is a certified CSEP Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor. Avi enjoys working with beginner clients and the general population. He specializes in weight loss training plan, resistance training, strength and conditioning coaching. He is an accomplished Group Exercise Instructor and loves teaching spin classes, full body circuits, and kickboxing! Avi has experience working with the Canadian Paralympic wheelchair rugby team on strength training and stretching. Avi’s goals for his clients are helping them develop and achieve a healthy lifestyle. One of Avi’s key philosophies about personal training and fitness in general is that “Fitness is not about being better than someone else, it’s about being better than you used to be”.

Sarah King, CSEP-CPT, R.Kin

Sarah is a Certified personal trainer through the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology, a Registered Kinesiologist through the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario, certified in Functional Movement Screen Level 1 and has completed her Level 2 Nutrition Coaching certification with Precision Nutrition. After graduating Fanshawe College with a Fitness and Health promotion diploma Sarah decided to further her education by obtaining an Bachelor of Arts Honors Specialization Degree in Kinesiology at the University of Western Ontario. Sarah’s specialties include strength training, sport conditioning/training and nutrition coaching. She also enjoys working with beginner clients to develop positive lifestyle habits. Sarah currently plays competitive soccer, enjoys being outdoors, and hiking with her dog.

Anique Daley, CSEP-CPT

Anique is a Fitness and Health promotion graduate from Fanshawe College and holds her CSEP-Certified Personal Trainer certification. She has always been passionate about fitness and health and is delighted to share that with you. Anique wants to help clients reach their goal and maintain their fitness level. She is a former member of the Fanshawe Women’s Varsity Basketball team, and has had the opportunity to apply her knowledge to high level training programs. She would love to share her expertise with clients of all different fitness level. Anique is a fun and energetic individual that will push you to your limits. In her spare time Anique enjoys the outdoors, rock climbing, playing sports, and stays in tip top shape through regular training.

Karen Nixon-Carroll, CSEP-CPT

Karen is a certified personal trainer, group exercise instructor and nutrition coach and holds these designations with several organizations (CSEP, Precision Nutrition, YMCA, MOSSA, NAFC, CFP). She holds specialty certifications in Insanity, TRX, BOSU, Kettlebell, Zumba, Group Power, Group Blast, Group Active, Yoga Fitness, and Exercise is Medicine Canada. She has also done extensive training in ViPr, cardio boxing and athletic conditioning. Karen has been teaching Group ex since 1998 and personal training since 2002 and has worked with a variety of athletes, shift workers, office employees, laborers, students, pre/post-natal, seniors and kids. Karen loves the challenge of helping an athlete cross-train as equally as working with someone new to exercise. She has had great success with clients looking to lose weight and make a lifestyle change. Karen has played soccer since she was 4, competes in running races, loves to dance, paint, and ride her bike. She also has 2 little boys to chase after and motivate her to be in good health.

Josh Mullan, CSEP-CPT

Josh graduated from Fanshawe Fitness and Health Promotion program in 2015 and became a CSEP Certified Personal Trainer. After graduating Josh decided to further his education by enrolling in the Fanshawe Massage therapy program. Josh is currently in the process of becoming a Registered Massage Therapist and plans to finish a degree in Kinesiology at UWO. Josh specializes in sport conditioning/training, strength training and body composition. Josh is interested in a wide range of training styles; his ideal focus is on barbell training, mobility improvement and injury prevention. Josh enjoys working with collegiate athletes however he is also highly motivated to help new members build active lifestyle habits. Josh enjoys the challenge of helping clients meet goals, his focus is on building programs that are progressive and use exercises the client enjoys. Josh now volunteers as athletic trainer with the FC London League One Women’s Team. Outside the gym Josh enjoys playing sports, volunteering, coaching and taking his dog to the beach.
